challenging day. lots of sick patients. dying patients. it is
frustrating because our resources are so limited. we have hardly any
labs to make diagnoses. the ultrasound works on/off. no imaging other
than basic chest xray.
the 7 yr old female i saw on saturday who had a fever, was seizing for
30 mins prior to arrival, foaming at the mouth, unresponsive. is now
awake, alert, and doing well. i thought for sure she was dying in
front of me. a miracle of antibiotics. we treated her for severe
malaria and now she is doing great. i will attach a picture of her.

one of the men i saw on saturday for probably typhoid fever, died. he
probably had a perforated abdomen. no surgery available.

a lady 31 yo 1month ago gave birth presenting with fever, malaise,
weight loss, looked like a tooth pick. she probably had HIV or
Tuberculosis. we were waiting for labs to come back. gave her fluids,
then went on to the next patients. 30 mins later she stopped breathing
in front of us. no pulse. cpr, no equipment to intubate, no
defibrillator to shock her heart. she died. i think of a blood clot
that went to her lungs. we will never know.

there is a gentleman here with a stroke. no one to take care of him.
can't be admitted to hospital because no beds available. no
rehab/nursing home to send him to.

2 other patients are in a coma. we have no idea what is wrong with
them. no labs available. no ct scan or mri. just waiting to die or
wake up.

another 7 yr old female with an abdomen full of either cancer or
tuberculosis. will likely die as well. no chemotherapy available if
cancer.

that is a taste of what i am seeing
the research project isn't working so well. the nurses aren't
recording information.
i got to run today. 3 miles in humidity. sweating like crazy. then
kicked the soccer ball against the wall.
